METHODOLOGY
Digital Journalism

Process:
Following the success of my previous project. I want to raise the bar. Since we are able to choose from whoever we like in the course. I have decided to join forces with two of my friends that have similar interests and good work ethic, Daniel Jupe and Denis Miculas. They are heavily invested in photography and have the equipment necessary to create some really high end videos and images. I myself have a camera, tripod and GoPro with many attachments so we plan to encorporate it somewhere.

As it is a video we're looking to make something cinematic, appealing and impressive. We don't have much experience in this field but we know some basic stuff and we will let our creativity take a hold and see what we come up with. As we look as the topic available to us, nothing is really that appealing. We're currently caught between Digital Journalism and Mapping. We have an fascinating idea for the mapping but are unsure how we would carry it out. The idea is to reconstruct the districts in the movie the Hunger Games from knowledge of the movie. This would require us to watch several hours of footage and a lot of research to be able to do this, after that we would need to discover how we would go about doing so. This idea sounds great but may be too difficult to execute to a satisfactory standard. The other idea we have is digital journalism. We don't know how we feel about this because to us the word "journalism" doesn't sound exciting or appealing, however we've brainstormed and think we have some sort of idea but it's quite off top of the suggested tasks, but the tasks are "suggested" so perhaps we'll puruse with the idea.

We've decided to go ahead with out plan and have commenced the creation of a story board. We plan to have three scenes. The premise for the video is to demonstrate how simple it is now to communicate with others just by a simple text message compared to years ago when you had to write a letter and physically post the letter and wouldn't be received for days, even weeks. We want top focus on nice camera angles, transitions and show a clear difference between the old and the new age. We have a lot of work to do but the storyboard is coming along nicely. We're hoping to film everything within one day but I don't think that will be possible. With work getting in the way we have limited time. We're not yet finished but we plan to go along with it and come up with more angles and storyline as we go. We know what we want to achieve we just need to plan it accordingly and hit the 5 minutes we've been asked to do.

In the beginning I thought three scenes would be enough but just barely but at this rate it looks like we'll only need once scene. It's a lot more detailed than I originally anticipated!
